What Happens?

Celebrating the written and spoken word in one of the UK's most beautiful cities. 
 
Over 50 events throughout York, including theatre, storytelling, workshops, author signings and much more. Authors and speakers appearing include : Kate Atkinson, Jon McGregor, Andrew Martin, Jim Crace, Miles Cain, Oz Harwick, Adrian Spendlow and more. Judith Murray will talk about the role of the literary agent for aspiring writers and there will be a guided talk around York's many sites of literary interest. Who will enjoy it?

The festival is one way to get involved in reading groups, creative writing and open mic sessions in York. It's an opportunity to see what goes on in York and to be part of it after the festival has ended. For visitors to York, you'll be able to see some fantastic one-off events. Events are aimed at adults, young people and children.
