York Lesbian Arts Festival tbc Established2000 What happens? The York Lesbian Arts Festival (YLAF) celebrates lesbian books, performance and music. It's an exciting national event for around 3,000 people at York Racecourse and around the city. This year there will be workshops, a games evening, a 2-day book festival, a concert, a disco, a sunday lunch concert and talks from many famous literary names. For a full list of events please click here - http://www.ylaf.org.uk/calendar.html

HistoryThe York Lesbian Arts Festival was founded in 2000 by Jenny Roberts of Libertas Women's Bookshop and has since grown into a four-day extravaganza. Libertas is now an on-line store under new ownership but remains involved as the main sponsor and ticket agent. Other supporters are the Arts Council, City of York Council and York Tourism Partnership. Who will enjoy it? Although the festival is largely aimed at lesbian and bisexual women, anyone who likes the arts or clubbing should enjoy most of the events (but please note some events are women-only). York residents should especially look out for the outdoor concert which is a great way for the general public to enjoy YLAF.
